Unitor fixed foam system for the purifier room

Fixed foam fire-extinguishing system

Unitor fixed foam system for the separator (purifier) room, designed to SOLAS II-2 Reg. 8. Sea water from the fire main passes an inline inductor which sucks foam concentrate from a 1 m³ GRP tank and injects it at 6 % into the water line; six spray nozzles cover the room. Because foam concentrate is corrosive, a flushing line between the water and foam lines is used after every discharge. The file holds the calculation sheet, material specification, drawings, data sheets, technical description, installation and filling procedure and the operating instruction.

Maintenance procedures

After a discharge or test

  1. Flush the foam and water piping through the flushing line with fresh water — foam concentrate is corrosive. p. 3
  2. Refill the foam tank to the full mark with the correct type of concentrate; keep the outlet valve closed and check the pressure/vacuum valve. p. 24
