Westfalia VESC-1

Separator control unit

The Westfalia VESC-1 control unit runs the separation, sludge discharge (partial and total ejection) and displacement programs of a self-cleaning separator and monitors it. Inputs include motor fault, clean-oil outlet pressure switch, feed temperature min/max switches, feed pump control and sludge tank level switches; outputs drive the feed, displacement/filling water and operating water valves, the sludge pump, a collective alarm and a klaxon. The manual and parts list explains the inputs and outputs, programming of times, operation (start, separation stop, separator off), monitoring and alarms, short-circuit and internal fault finding, and the watchdog.

Maintenance procedures

Stopping separation

  1. Press key 0 in separation mode: the unit runs waiting, displacement, waiting after displacement and speed recovery, then ejects with minimum product loss. p. 37
  2. Pressing 0 during ejection interrupts the program at once. p. 37
  3. If the motor starter is switched off with the feed valve open, a total ejection is made automatically. p. 37

Clearing an alarm

  1. Read the fault text on the display (e.g. clean oil outlet, feed temperature). p. 37
  2. Eliminate the cause, press Enter to acknowledge, then press I to restart separation. p. 37
